Asia Bibi's Story Meet Asia Bibi, a 3-year-old little girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan who has been battling with the symptoms of shortness of breath and cyanosis since birth. Due to her condition, she looks more frail than other kids of her age. Her parents had a medical consultation with a cardiac surgeon. The doctor diagnosed her with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), which affects the heart’s ability to pump blood properly. After a comprehensive evaluation, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction to save Asia’s life. Asia has a reduced appetite and is unable to gain weight. She gets tired quickly. Her condition has affected the growth and development of her muscles, bones, and brain cells. Asia’s parents want to see her live a normal struggle-free life. However, the expensive cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s reach. They live in a 2-marla rented mud house. Asia’s father works as a daily wager and brings in PKR 18000 only. With utility bills amounting to PKR 5000 per month and a staggering loan of PKR 60,000, there is a significant financial strain on the family, leaving no option to pay for the surgical and medical bills. A relative told them about Transparent Hands and her parents contacted us for financial assistance. Asia’s parents expressed their plea as follows: “Every day we pray for a miracle and wish to see her healthy. Our daughter faces extreme challenges and struggles to breathe normally. We don’t have enough resources to pay for her life-saving surgery.
