Nisa Homes was born out of a need to support the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our community. After conducting a feasibility study, we found that in order to be more proactive in supporting women and children in restarting their lives after experiencing trauma or homelessness, a model that provided a safe home to heal, support services to rebuild and opportunities to flourish upon moving out into the community.
This home is a centre of empowerment where the vulnerable are given hope, the broken are rebuilt and the helpless are given their dignity.
Nisa Homes is a place for women to live comfortably and feel safe in a supportive home environment, to explore their cultural identity, and to directly connect with their community. Culture is vital to immigrant, refugee and Muslim women, and as such we work hard to provide them with a sense of self and personal identity. By providing this environment we hope to enable women to feel safe and supported to develop the tools needed to achieve independence and self-sustainability.
Nisa Homes is a project of the National Zakat Foundation.
