Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) is a community of humanitarians—staff, volunteers, affiliates, supporters, partners, donors—who have been working together for a better world for nearly 25 years. As a prominent Islamic charity in the USA, IRUSA has been at the forefront of emergency relief, Zakat distribution, and Sadaqah efforts, serving vulnerable communities both domestically and internationally. Founded in 1993 in California, IRUSA operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit humanitarian agency and is part of the larger Islamic Relief Worldwide network. IRUSA’s mission extends across multiple humanitarian sectors, including disaster relief, hunger prevention, healthcare access, and community empowerment. Domestically, IRUSA’s programs include their widely recognized Day of Dignity events, where volunteers provide food, medical care, and essential supplies to low-income and homeless populations across the U.S. IRUSA also plays a crucial role in responding to national emergencies like Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, and the Flint water crisis, distributing millions in aid and supporting affected communities with on-the-ground assistance. Internationally, IRUSA has been a lifeline for displaced populations in conflict zones like Syria, Gaza, and Afghanistan. Their comprehensive emergency response includes providing food aid, medical services, and shelter to refugees and those affected by natural disasters and political unrest. Recent efforts include ongoing support for Syrian refugees in neighboring countries, assistance to flood-affected communities in Pakistan, and healthcare relief during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
