The Amal Alliance, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-governmental organization that aims to help displaced children at refugee camps and informal settlements across the world through education and integration programs. We are based on the premise that we are all global citizens sharing the social and moral responsibility to ensure all children have access to the social-emotional learning fundamentals needed to guarantee them future opportunities to succeed! By acquiring and distributing books, creating a safe space where children can learn and play, establishing a practice of yoga and mindfulness, we nurture a sense of inner peace that helps children develop concentration, self-confidence, resiliency, and self-worth. Our programs were conceived to meet children at their confidence and capability level, and to enhance cognitive and interpersonal skills during early childhood development. Our holistic approach provides psycho-social support through recreational and relaxation activities that help counter the effects of the stress of trauma. While our core curriculum focuses on kids yoga and mindfulness, it also includes art therapy, music, dance, reading, creative writing, and any outlets that allow children to find their voice and expression. We encourage active reading leading to creative activities and critical thinking to empower and integrate children for a better future. We fulfill our mission by collaborating and coordinating with like-minded humanitarian organizations and host communities through increasing global awareness and sharing outlooks to help counter marginalization and build cross-cultural relations.
